Security in the Lozells and Handsworth areas of Birmingham has dramatically increased following the installation of rapid deployment CCTV cameras from ATEC. The wireless system links to a central operating system monitored by Birmingham City Council, providing an invaluable resource in deterring criminal activity in the area.
The rapid deployment ‘Visibility' cameras, designed, produced and installed by ATEC Security, mean that any camera on the wireless network can be relocated quickly to pinpoint criminal activity hotspots. The ATEC Visibility cameras have been designed for wireless applications and use H.264 IP Video compression for improved quality over IP networks, which require less bandwidth than MPEG4 compression. The IP video stream is recorded at Birmingham City Council's Control Room on ATEC-designed RAID5 Network Video Recorders and provides 31 days of archive footage.
Inspector Paul Deathridge from West Midlands Police, says, “We are certain that the scope of vision and clarity of the images taken by them will aid us in pinpointing criminal activity, which will be instrumental in securing convictions if required.”
