The Home Office, which funded the creation of the £1.25m facility, believes it to be a "best-practice example" on which the future of the UK 's public surveillance system should be modelled. The central London surveillance network has become so famed that more than 6,000 officials from 30 countries have come to learn lessons from the centre.
The Guardian online also has an extensive video interview with Dan Brown, Control Room Manager at WCC's control room who explains the process of monitoring for suspicious behaviour in the capital and how one of the world's largest CCTV networks operates.
