Why does ATEC partner with HID Global?
The credential standard most access platforms are built around
We partner with HID Global because their access cards and readers are the industry standard that most other access control platforms are built to work with. This provides wide compatibility across manufacturers, plus the option of mobile credentials and biometrics where a physical card isn’t the right fit for a site.

HID Global's strengths in detail
Industry-standard cards and readers
HID’s access cards and readers have become something close to an industry standard, with most access control platforms designed to work with HID credential technology. This means wide compatibility: specifying HID rarely locks a customer into a single access control software provider further down the line.
Multi-technology credential support
HID supports multiple credential technologies, including iCLASS, MIFARE and DESFire, rather than a single proprietary format. This means we can specify a credential type that suits their specific security requirements and existing infrastructure, rather than being restricted to whatever single technology a manufacturer happens to have settled on.
Mobile credentials allowing access via smartphone
HID’s mobile credentials let staff and visitors use a smartphone to gain access instead of carrying a physical card or fob. This reduces the ongoing cost and hassle of issuing, tracking and replacing lost cards, while giving end users a more convenient way to move around a site.
Biometric readers for higher levels of security
HID offers biometric readers, including fingerprint and facial recognition options, for entry points that need a higher level of assurance than a card alone provides. For our customers securing particularly sensitive areas, such as server rooms or restricted zones, this gives a credible additional layer of identity verification.
In-house printing and issuance of ID badges
HID’s FARGO range of card printers and issuance systems allows organisations to produce their own ID badges in-house, combining photographs, credentials and security features on a single card. For customers who need to manage large numbers of staff or visitor badges, this brings printing and access credentialing together under one system.
Truly global scale, connecting more than 2 billion devices
HID Global operates as an independent brand within the ASSA ABLOY Group, the world’s largest lock and access solutions business.
HID’s technology connects more than 2 billion things worldwide, from access cards to government ID documents and industrial asset tracking, covering an enormous range of real-world applications.
