Multi-Gigabit Millimetre-Wave Wireless

Pioneers of mass-produced millimetre-wave wireless links

Siklu built the first mass-produced millimetre-wave radio and now trade as Siklu by Ceragon, following the 2023 acquisition. Their EtherHaul and MultiHaul ranges carry gigabit wireless links in the 60GHz and 70/80GHz bands, with more than 300,000 units deployed across over 50 countries.

Why does ATEC partner with Siklu?

Gigabit links without the cost of trenching fibre

A Siklu link delivers fibre-like capacity for roughly a quarter of the cost of trenching, in around a tenth of the time. The radios align themselves, so a link is operational within about fifteen minutes, and Listed buildings, live car parks, highways, railways and protected ground cease to be obstacles to extending a camera network. Camera positions are determined by the security requirement and the available line of sight.

Siklu’s strengths
at a glance

  • Scanning antennas align automatically
  • Installable without telecoms training
  • PoE-Out powers a camera directly from the radio over a single cable
  • PoE-Out can be switched remotely to power-cycle a connected device
  • 60GHz frequency has no ongoing spectrum fees
  • IP67 sealed, with a rated MTBF of over 90 years

Siklu's strengths in detail

Self-aligning links and beam locking antennas

Patent-pending scanning antennas locate and lock the beam automatically, and units are shipped factory-paired. A single engineer can bring a gigabit link into service in approximately fifteen minutes. The same beamforming maintains alignment as poles move in high wind or under temperature change.

Installed by security engineers without telecoms training

An independent Benchmark Magazine assessment concluded these radios are suitable for installation by security engineers and integrators without telecoms training. The work therefore stays within our own team, with no separate telecoms subcontractor required on the programme. Programme times shorten and responsibility for the link remains in one place.

Power delivered over the link from a single cable

The radios incorporate a gigabit switch with PoE-Out, supplying up to 26 watts, so a camera or access point draws power directly from the radio. A single cable run provides both connectivity and power. On a pole or rooftop with no local supply, the electrical work package is removed.

Remote power cycling and remote troubleshooting

PoE-Out can be switched off and on remotely, power-cycling whatever is connected to it. A camera that has stopped responding on a mast or a remote compound is restarted from the office. Across an estate of scattered sites, the number of attendance visits falls appreciably.

Licence-exempt spectrum in the UK

The 60GHz V-band is licence exempt in the UK following Ofcom’s ruling, so no ongoing spectrum fees apply. Narrow pencil beams and high signal attenuation in this band allow links sited close together to operate independently of one another. A campus can run several wireless connections simultaneously within the same area.

Built for long service and outdoor environments

The units are IP67 sealed, palm-sized and rated at a mean time between failures of over 90 years, with AES encryption applied to the link. Their size suits mounting on street furniture and building facades. Their size suits mounting on street furniture and building facades, and maintenance requirements after commissioning are minimal.
