Abloy
Abloy
Abloy for trust
The inventors of the disc-detainer lock in 1907, with over a century of experience in mechanical engineering.
Abloy trace their history to Emil Henriksson’s 1907 disc-detainer lock patent in Helsinki, the mechanism their cylinders still use today. Part of the ASSA ABLOY Group, their range covers mechanical and electromechanical locking, including PROTEC2 CLIQ and Aperio wireless locks, securing everything from hospitals to government buildings worldwide.
Why does ATEC partner with Abloy?
A huge product range with wireless access control options that don't require hardwiring
We partner with Abloy because their locking systems combine over a century of mechanical engineering with genuinely useful digital access control, such as PROTEC2 CLIQ, which lets a single key manage complex access rights without wiring every door. This suits customers with older buildings or remote locations where full electronic access control isn’t practical.

Abloy's strengths in detail
PROTEC2
CLIQ
PROTEC2 CLIQ combines a traditional mechanical key with an electronic chip, so a single key can be programmed with specific access rights, time restrictions and an audit trail. For customers managing large numbers of doors or remote sites, this removes much of the cost and disruption of rewiring every door for full electronic access control.
Aperio wireless
locks
Aperio wireless locks connect standard doors to an existing access control system without the cost or disruption of hardwiring, communicating over a wireless protocol instead. For customers wanting to extend access control to more doors, such as internal offices or storage areas, this brings them into the system considerably more cost-effectively than a wired reader.
Over a century
of experience
Abloy’s locking technology has been in continuous development since 1907, giving the business well over a century of experience in high-security mechanical and electromechanical locks. Abloy’s locking mechanism traces back to Emil Henriksson’s 1907 invention of the rotating detainer disc, patented in 1919 and still the basis of Abloy cylinders today.
Backed by
ASSA ABLOY
Since 1994, Abloy has operated as part of the ASSA ABLOY Group, one of the largest door opening solution businesses in the world. For customers, this means access to a considerably wider pool of resources and R&D investment than Abloy had as a standalone company, while retaining its own specialist locking expertise.
Deployed across
high-security sites
Abloy’s locking systems are already deployed across hospitals, airports, government buildings and other high-security sites worldwide, protecting some of the most sensitive locations in daily use. This track record gives us confidence when specifying Abloy for customers with similarly demanding security requirements around their own buildings and assets.
Wide product range
& proven track record
Abloy’s product range extends well beyond cylinders, spanning padlocks, electric locking, door operators and complete master key systems. For customers, this means we can specify a single, compatible locking strategy across an entire site, rather than mixing components from different manufacturers that may not work together as well.
