Axis Communications
Innovating for a Smarter, Safer World
The company that invented the network camera in 1996
Axis Communications introduced the world’s first network camera in 1996 and have developed network video from Lund, Sweden since 1984. Around 4,000 employees across more than 50 countries work on network video, access control, audio and analytics, supplied through technology and integration partners worldwide.
Why does ATEC partner with Axis Communications?
Enterprise camera configuration in roughly thirty minutes instead of 106 hours
AXIS Device Manager reduces the total configuration time for an enterprise installation to approximately 30 minutes, against an estimated 106 hours working through individual device web interfaces. Settings are backed up and restored as a complete set, and new devices adopt the same configuration profile. Commissioning time on large camera counts falls to a fraction of the manual equivalent.

Axis Communications' strengths in detail
Consistent device hardening and certificates
AXIS Device Manager applies device hardening, HTTPS certificates, IEEE 802.1x credentials, accounts and passwords across every device in one operation. Cyber hardening is applied consistently rather than device by device. A site goes live with the same security posture on the last camera as on the first.
Remote management across sites
AXIS Device Manager Extend manages thousands of Axis devices across multiple locations from one interface. Faults are identified and often resolved without attending site. On a customer estate spread across several counties, routine maintenance is carried out centrally and attendance is reserved for physical work.
Software upgrades with rollback
Bulk device software upgrades are pushed from a single console, and a pushed release can be rolled back where an issue arises. Every job is traceable and full device information can be exported. Firmware status across a large estate becomes a reportable position, supported by an exportable record for audit.
Analytics on the camera,
at the edge
The AXIS Camera Application Platform allows analytics to run on the camera itself, and Device Manager Extend reports which applications are running on which devices. Many applications, including the Guard Suite for motion, loitering and fence detection, run without a separate analytics server. Detection happens at the edge, reducing both network load and central processing requirements.
Choice of software track, without feature changes
AXIS OS is published on an active track that adds features alongside long-term support tracks focused on security patches and API consistency. A customer running a stable, validated system can take security updates without feature changes. Sites with different risk profiles are supported from the same product range.
One manufacturer across systems
Axis supply network video, access control, audio and intercom products designed to operate together and managed through the same tools. A customer can standardise on one manufacturer across several parts of a security system. Support, training and spares holdings are simplified as a direct result.
