IndigoVision
Video systems built for performance and resilience
An early mover in IP CCTV and video compression, founded in Edinburgh
IndigoVision were an early mover in IP video security, founded in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1994. Known for their distributed network architecture and end-to-end video management systems, they were acquired by Motorola Solutions in 2020, with their technology since integrated into the Avigilon Unity platform.
Why does ATEC work with IndigoVision?
Specialist support and a planned route off legacy hardware
We work with IndigoVision products because many sites still run legacy IndigoVision systems that need specialist support or a migration path. Our engineers understand the platform’s distributed architecture inside out, meaning we can maintain existing installations reliably or plan a smooth upgrade to Avigilon Unity, without customers losing video coverage during the transition.

ATEC's expertise with IndigoVision in detail
Specialist knowledge of distributed architecture
IndigoVision’s systems were built around a distributed network architecture, allowing direct camera access without a central server and continued live video even if a recorder failed. Understanding this design in genuine depth means our engineers can properly diagnose and maintain older IndigoVision installations, rather than treating them as a black box nobody wants to touch.
Experience maintaining legacy installations
Many organisations still operate IndigoVision cameras, recorders and Control Center software that were installed years ago and continue to work perfectly well. We have the specific product knowledge to keep these systems reliably running, giving customers more time to plan a considered upgrade rather than being forced into an unplanned, costly replacement.
Clear upgrade path to Avigilon Unity or Alta
Since Motorola Solutions folded IndigoVision’s technology into its Avigilon Unity platform, there’s now a defined upgrade path for customers ready to move on from legacy hardware. We can plan and deliver that migration properly, rather than customers being left to work out for themselves what happens once IndigoVision reaches end of life.
Migration maintaining business continuity
Upgrading from an established video system is never entirely risk-free, and losing coverage during a transition is a genuine concern for any security-conscious customer. We plan IndigoVision migrations carefully, phasing the upgrade so cameras and recording continue functioning throughout, rather than leaving a site exposed while new hardware goes in.
Deep integration module knowledge
IndigoVision systems often include integration modules connecting video to access control, fire detection and perimeter alarm systems from other manufacturers. Our familiarity with these integrations means we can properly assess what else is connected to a legacy IndigoVision system before touching it, rather than risking unintended disruption to systems that depend on it.
Large existing client base in the right sectors
IndigoVision was widely deployed across airports, transport networks, city centres and other demanding public environments, and we’ve built experience working with the platform in exactly these settings. For customers in similarly complex sectors, this means we understand both the technical platform and the operational environment it’s typically running in.
