Security for manufacturing and production sites
Perimeter detection, surveillance, access control and ANPR built around shift patterns and vehicle movements, so the line keeps running and the security system doesn’t get in the way.
Stolen cable costs you a week of production
Strip the copper out of a substation overnight and the scrap value of what they carry off is a few hundred pounds. What it actually costs you is a stopped line, idle shifts, missed deliveries and contracts you cannot fulfil. Getting everything back online can take weeks.
Shift change is an open window for an opportunist
For twenty minutes at every changeover, two or three times a day, the gates are busy, everyone is moving, and nobody is really checking. It is when contractors turn up unannounced, and when people walk in behind a group. It is also the point at which your record of who is actually on site is least reliable.
The site grew but the cameras did not move
New storage goes up, a gate gets added because it saves a walk, vehicle routes change after the last extension. The cameras are still covering the site as it was drawn years ago. So were the recording, the storage and the network underneath them, all sized for a smaller site than the one you have. An hour spent walking the fence line will usually find the gaps.
The wrong person gains access to the wrong place
Some areas are only safe for people with the right training, or with a live permit to work. Agency staff and contractors turn over constantly. The induction record and the door often do not agree. If the fire alarm sounds, you also have to know who is still inside.
How ATEC protects manufacturing sector
Protect what stops the line
We start by protecting the things that are most critical. Detection goes where the loss is, not spread evenly around the fence. Thermal and analytics cover points after dark, and an alarm is raised while there is still time to do something about it.
Tighten the gate when it is busiest
Access control handles the rush without slowing it, everyone taps in and tailgating gets flagged rather than waved through. Readers and turnstiles are correctly sized for activity during peak periods. Contractors are issued access for the job and the hours in hand, and nothing beyond that. Nobody gets onto the floor without being signed or badged in.
Cover the site you have now
We survey the site as it stands rather than as it was drawn, and rebuild coverage accordingly. Every camera is specified for a stated purpose. Cabling and switching go in with headroom, spare ports and spare PoE budget, so the next extension is an easy addition. Gates that have appeared over the years get the detection and access control they should have had from the start.
Right people, right areas, live headcount
Permissions follow the role and the training. Restricted plant and hazardous areas open only for people cleared to be there, and agency credentials expire on a date set when they are issued, so they lapse on their own. If the fire alarm sounds, the same system gives the muster point a live list of who could still be in the building.
